From the time Raymond Arntzen was young, the Arntzen family farm ran Horned Hereford cattle.  They purchased a Simmental bull to try something different and were thrilled with the results.  We continued to use traditional Simmental bulls until 1997 when we introduced artificial insemination to incorporate red factor genetics.  We later incorporated black Simmental genetics to the herd.

After exhibiting commercial cattle at our local 4-H show, Jelia Simmentals registered its first half blood heifer in 1996 when we began showing at many more junior shows across Canada. The junior programs during the summer months taught us a lot about the industry as well as the people in it.  We continued to travel to many programs in Canada as well as the United States.

Each of us children had our own herd name for registrations and as time progressed, dad showed more of an interest in having some purebred Simmental cattle as well, so in 2003 he started registering his own cattle under Rolly Acre Farms.  Since then we continued to use A.I. to increase the genetic value of our cattle.  All cattle are raised together on the same farm using the same genetics, operating under farm different names.

We manage purebred and commercial red and black Simmental cattle, raising our own replacement heifers and selling bulls at our own annual bull sale the second Saturday in March in Veteran, AB.  We cull hard and pride ourselves on functional females and a solid bull reputation. In the past we have sold bulls at Lloydminster's Pride of the Prairies bull sale and females and bulls at the Red and Black Invitational and bred heifers at Cow-A-Rama.  We welcome visitors to the farm for cattle viewing and are open to private sales.

There have been many highlights in our years with the Simmental breed including showing at Farmfair International and Canadian Bull Congress with many class winners and many champions at the Wild Rose Classic.

We look forward to the continued success of the Simmental breed.  We strive to promote our breed, adapt to the changing markets and anticipate a bright future.  Our farm and home is always available discussions, tours and visitors.
